Urdu Academy pays tribute to Poetess Meena Kumari
The Urdu Academy of Northern California dedicated its program of June 26, 2011 to pay rich tribute to the forgotten poetesses of the past and Meena Kumari as poetesses. As usual, a number of maqalas were read on the life and work of the poets.
A number of Urdu lovers amused the audience with the recitation of poetry of the forgotten poetesses as well as of Meena Kumari.
The Urdu Academy President Tashie Zaheer welcomed the audience on behalf of the Academy. Dr. Tahir Mahmood was the MC of the event. Nagesh Avadhani presented the vote of thanks.
The literary event was held at the Chandni Restaurant.
