Urdu Academy inaugurates Dr. Khawaj Ashraf’s books
The Urdu Academy of Northern California inaugurated well-known contemporary Urdu writer, Dr. Khawaja Ashraf’s five books Nasl-e-Sokhta, Matti ka Baita, Mukalmay ka qatl, Shab Gazeedeh Sahar, and Aina Kahani.
Dr. Khwaja Ashraf has been writing for over three decades. He has made waves in the Urdu literary world by recently publishing five books in a short span of two years.
In the program, held on April 17, 2011 Bay Area Urdu connoisseurs reviewed Dr Khwaja Ashraf's written work.
The second session of the monthly literary event was dedicated to the life and work of the well-known Urdu poet Jalil Manakpuri. As usual, a number of maqalas were read on the life and work of Jalil Manakpuri. A number of Urdu lovers amused the audience with the recitation of poetry of Jalil Manakpuri.
The Urdu Academy President Tashie Zaheer welcomed the audience on behalf of the Academy. Dr. Tahir Mahmood and Ali Hasan Cemendtaur were the MCs of the event. Nagesh Avadhani presented the vote of thanks. The literary event was held at the Chandni Restaurant.
