Urdu Academy honors Noon Meem Rashid
Urdu Academy held a literary evening on November 22, to pay tribute to Noon Meem Rashid, who ushered an era of modernism and free verse in Urdu poetry. The event, held at the Chandni Restaurant, Newark, CA, was presided over by Janab Parwaz Ambalvi.
Professor Zafar Ansari and Tashie Zaheer and presented a maqalas about the work of Noon Meem Rashid. A contemporary of Faiz, Noon Meem Rashid (1910 - 1975) is regarded with them as one of the most influential modern Urdu poets of the 20th century.
Ali Hasan Cemendtaur presented an afsana (short story) “HASSAN KOOZA GAR.”

and Syed Iqbal Ahmed (RAQS) and
Kuldip Singh captivated the audience with the presentation of Noon Meem Rashid’s well known poem Insaan.
The second session of the literary evening was dedicated to a mini Musharia to honor the visiting Indian poet, Janab Parwaz Ambalvi.
