April 19, 2009
The Urdu Academy literary evening of April 19, 2009 was dedicated to the life and work of the two great Urdu poets of sub-continent, Khawaja Haider Ali Aatish and Baqi Siddiqi.
The event was presided over by Jenab Azad Jullundari while Dr. Dr. Ghazala Ansari was the chief guest. Dr. Tahir Mahmood was MC for the first session while Janab Tashie Zaheer served as MC for the second session.
At the beginning of the program Nagesh Avadhany welcomed the guests on behalf of the Urdu Academy.
Janab Arshad H. Rashid presented a well researched maqala on the life and work of Janab Atish. His presentation was applauded by the audience.
Those who presented the poetry of Atish included: Dr. Tahir Mahmood, Muhammad Saleem, Waqar A Khan, Dr. Maheen Adamson, Jawed Umerani, Ken Fazal Shery and Dr. Ghazala Ansari.
Janab Tashie Zaheer briefly spoke about the life and work of Baqi Siddiqi.
Those who presented the poetry of Baqi Siddiqi included: Afreen Mahmood, Ken Fazal Sherfy, Arshad H. Rashid, Waqar A Khan, Dr. Tahir Mahmood and Dr. Ghazala Ansari.
The third session was dedicated to Saaz-o-Ahang. Ghazal maestro Janab Kuldip Singh thrilled the audience by singing a number of ghazals of Atish.
